Why Sealants Are the First Thing to Fail on Oklahoma Commercial Buildings, and the First Thing You Should Check
Every commercial building depends on sealant more than most owners realize. Around every window, every door, every expansion joint, every place two materials meet, sealant is the only thing standing between the outside and the inside. When it fails, water doesn’t need a big opening. A hairline gap is enough.
In Oklahoma, sealant doesn’t get an easy life. Summer heat pushes exterior surfaces well past 150 degrees, and that heat dries sealant out, causing it to shrink, harden, and pull away from the edges it’s supposed to be bonded to.
